Iran meets Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday in a Group F World Cup match up in what should be a very competitive match. The match is being played in Arena Fonte Nova in Brazil. Iran has surprised many fans with its performance thus far in Group play almost tying world power house Argentina before losing in the final seconds of that match and drawing separately against Nigeria.
Iran is a very organized defensive team so don’t expect a high scoring match as Iran will pack it in and rely on the counter attack to win games. Head Coach Carlos Quieroz will implement the same game plan against Bosnia and look to pick up the maximum three points with a victory. If Iran can get the victory and the soccer gods work for them on the other side, there is an outside shot Iran can make it to the knockout round of 16 depending on how Nigeria fares in its match against Argentina
Bosnia-Herzegovina on the other hand has been a mixed bag and will more than likely have its offensive chances but it’s the defense that is a concern for Bosnia as they have not looked good throughout the tournament. Bosnia star forward Edin Dzeko looked shaky in his last match missing numerous opportunities.
Expect Iran to battle from the start with Bosnia returning the kicks. This is going to be a good match as both teams are not only playing for national pride, but Iran has a realistic possibility of getting into the next round if they can score and win and scoring is some Iran has not done in this World Cup so far so they are going to have to break the ice.
I expect a good match from both sides but do predict that Iran will outscore Bosnia in this match by one goal. I predict a 1-0 final score, with Iran winning.
My prediction: Iran wins 1-0
