iPhone 6's release date may still be a few months away. But Apple fans are learning more and more about the yet-to-be released smartphone as information surrounding the iPhone 6 begins to surface. A new patent awarded to Apple suggests that the iPhone 6 might have a new type of refocusable camera which will allow users to refocus their shots after they've been taken. The new light field camera would be unique to the iPhone.
iPhone 6's possible new camera works by capturing light fields, rather than a single 2D capture of the moment. The end result is that a foto is no longer fixed to the single capture but rather become malleable, allowing you to totally refocus the image. This technology is most famously used in the Lytro Light Field camera. While this technology is not hugely useful for printed images, Apple may be able to adapt it for an iPhone 6 high-resolution sensor.
The new iPhone camera technology would allow for incredible photo processing and flexibility. It would be in line with Apple's Slo-Mo editing tools on the iPhone 5S. However, there is no indication of whether the technology will indeed be included in the iPhone 6 nor when the product will launch. Yet.
