Those holding out for the Vodafone 4G network launch in June are about to get disappointed.

The company announced Tuesday that it will not gear up until after the iPhone 5S release in late summer to early fall, the Telegraph reported.

Vittorio Colao, CEO of Vodaphone, told reporters that he believes summer is a more opportune moment to launch the network.

"End of the summer means when there's going to be a good commercial moment for launching 4G," he said.

The most current iPhone model, the iPhone 5, is only compatible with EE's 4G network, which launched last year and operates on a different frequency level than those launched more recently.

The 5S will reportedly be compatible with the new frequencies, a former detriment to iPhones, which are incompatible with many other services.

Vodaphone allegedly admitted that its 4G LTE network services will now cost extra, Crave reported.

Colao said that the network is supposed to be faster than EE's, and a delay in launch will allow for more engineering work in order to obtain that goal.

Among others, BT is the only network to admit that it is planning the release of a 4G network. O2 is remaining mysteriously quiet, while Three says it's in no hurry to launch a network as of late. It is not immediately clear how long any of these projects would take.
