After Apple unveiled the new iPhone 5s and everyone bought the new smartphone users immediately reported faulty Wi-Fi signals or poor battery efficiency. Now Apple has confirmed that, actually, some of the batteries in the new device do not work properly. Apple has stated that the issue has only affected a very small number of devices as a way to calm the masses who may believe their battery is defective. The reports of the defective battery suggest that either the iPhone 5s is not able to charge as quickly as it should or it is reducing in battery life too fast.
"We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5s devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life," said Teresa Brewer, an Apple spokeswoman. "We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone."
Although Apple has not given an exact number, It is believed that out of the 9 million iPhone 5s devices and iPhone 5c's only a few thousand have been affected by the issue. If you are concerned that your new iPhone 5s or 5c smartphone has a defective battery, Apple will be contacting you and offering you a free replacement. If you are a smartphone owner who believes their phone is affected but haven't gotten a call from Apple, it is recommended that you make an appointment with their Genius Bar at an Apple retail store and let them check out your device in the store.
It is worth noting that a manufacturing issue is not the same a defective battery, which some users thought was the problem with their phones. So if you are not sure and want to know which yours is, then a genius bar appointment is probably the way to go.
