Chinese microblogging web site Sina Weibo released a picture over the weekend of what appears to be Apple's iPhone 5C or plastic iPhone being put through a testing process at iPhone manufacturer, Pegatron. The photo was first noticed by French news site NowhereElse and now even Engadget has done more digging on the image. Engadget discovered that not only was the picture taken at Pegatron in Shanghai, China but that she, the original poster, apparently joined Pegatron's quality control department in mid-July.
"According to her posts, the cheeky employee -- or more likely an ex-employee at this point -- in question joined the company's quality control department around mid-July. In an earlier comment, she also hinted that her plant is responsible for the latest Mac mini as well. The above photo was published yesterday, and it only came with the following caption: 'The low-end iPhone 5C to be launched for Chinese consumers in September doesn't look much different than the Xiaomi Phone 2, right?'"
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 5C at its media event September 10. The new device is expected to be available in multiple colors and is also rumored to replace the existing iPhone 5 in Apple's lineup. At this press event Apple is also expected to release their iPhone 5S model equipped with fingerprint sensor in the home button and a new 128 GB and gold color option. Apple is expected to make the iPhone 5S their new flagship device when it launches.
What do you think? Are you excited for Apple to be releasing an iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S?
