That happens to almost every mobile phone owner but especially iPhone owners because the effects of dropping your phone can be very devastating effects that cost a fortune to fix.
Apple is now replacing iPhone 5 screens at its retail locations, could this be because of a new cheaper iPhone?
Whatever the case may be the new display replacement service is priced at $149 and can be purchased with or without Apple's warranty, AppleCare+.
Apple is planning to save approximately $1 billion per year and to do that the company has made some changes to its in house repair policies and warranty programs. This looks to be the beginning of that change.

When Apple made the iPhone 5 they intentionally made it easier to replace the screen. The previous models, 4 and 4S, made it easy to open the back of the device, but the screen was difficult to replace.
MacRumors reports that the new repair policy had been implemented and the changes have since been confirmed in a forum post from iPhone repair site Quick iFix. The repairs are available for cracked screens and also displays with multi-touch display issues.
The new repair service is a lot more affordable than the alternative for iPhone users who don't purchase the AppleCare+ warranty. As before iPhone customers had to pay $249 to replace their iPhone screens now only have to pay $99 as an upfront cost and $49 for each replacement.
Apple is also expect to roll out more in-house repair options this July. The company will be offering repairs for the iPhone's camera, wake/sleep buttons, and logic boards. Additionally Apple is rumored to be switching to a subscription based plan tied to customers rather than individual devices.
