For months now, rumors have been swirling in regards to the iPad mini 2 and unfortunately, they haven't been able to agree on one of the biggest features that consumers are looking forward to.

Last year when the iPad hit the market without a Retina Display fans were disappointed but it didn't stop the tablet's success as the device is reportedly the company's top selling iPad model.

A new report from the Taiwanese publication Economic Daily News suggests that Apple will push back an iPad mini with Retina to 2014 due to Retina Display shortages. The company reportedly had been planning to launch the device during the fourth quarter of 2013, in time for the holiday shopping season but was forced to push the launch date back because of a shortages of Retina display panels.

The report also appears to suggest that Apple may offer both Retina and non-Retina versions of the second-generation iPad mini, although it is unclear just how price and feature differentiation between the models would work out.

This is just one of many reports that suggest Apple won't be releasing an iPad this fall. MacRumors says:

"Back in April, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had indicated that technical challenges with Retina displays would likely result in the updated iPad mini beginning to ship in the September-November timeframe, perhaps somewhat later than observers had been expecting at that time."

The website also reports that NPD DisplaySearch analysts has flipped flopped their claims on an iPad mini 2 with Retina Display release. MacRumors reports that the site initially claimed Apple would be releasing an iPad Mini with Retina later this year then switch to say that it would be later 2014. Now the site is back to their initial claims of a late 2013 release.

Rumors suggest that Apple's new iPad mini 2 will arrive with an upgraded processor and quite possibly, an updated camera as well.
