Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 22, as that is the date that Apple is set to announce their next generation iPad, according to AllThingsD. The invitation-only event will have the tablet as the star and will also most likely mention the release date of OS X Mavericks. The Cupertino company has not made the announcement official but invitations should he going out to the media in the next couple of days. The iPad and iPad mini were notably left out of last month's keynote and focused solely on the introduction of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The release of the iPad update will come right before the holiday shopping season goes underway.

Like all the products developed by Apple, the iPad 5 has been kept under wraps and rumors and leaks have have kept pundits guessing as to what new features the next generation tablet will have. Following the casing that the newly released iPhone 5S is sporting the new iPad is expected to come in a golden color. A Chinise website recently leaked an alleged iPad 5 that will have the mobile device take a design cue from its "mini" sibling, with a more rectancular look than the previous generation. Other rumors point that a larger sized iPad might be in the works and will be presented shortly. Another video surfaced last week that shows an iPad with the Touch ID sensor that was just added to the top of the line iPhone. As you know, the fingerprint sensor lets users bypass manually inputing a passcode and authorizing purchases on the iTunes and App Stores.

OS Mavericks is set for release this fall that will bring iBooks and the iBooks Store to the desktop and will have sync capabilities across all your iOS devices. Mavericks will also bring the Maps apps to the desktop as well as new features to the Calendar, Safari and Notifications. One of the major changes on the new OS is the Finder Tabs that will be implemented as well as tags for files on your computer that will make searching for them much easier. iCloud Keychain is another feature that will store, encrypt and automatically enter passwords across your devices. Now in its Gold Master release, the tech company should be announcing the release date here as well.

The Apple TV has also received lots of love from Cupertino with features and channels being added to the set-top box constantly. This "hobby" recently received an update with new app additions like Disney Channel, Smithsonian Channel and VEVO TV. When iOS 7 was release it also added the iTunes Radio feature, which lets users stream music right from their Apple TV. Maybe Apple has more in store for this device and will become more than the "hobby" it has been since its inception. What are you most excited about from Apple's new October 22nd event?
