French news site Nowhereelse.fr has posted new alleged photos of the rear casing of the Apple's fifth-generation iPad. The images show a silver casing that are consistent with a previous report that the next-generation full-sized iPad would use the same touch panel technology like the current-generation iPad mini to achieve a small size.
The images also show a rear shell for an iPad mini, although it is unclear whether the part is intended to be for the current generation iPad mini or a second-generation model.
Throughout the past few months numerous reports have surfaced claiming to be leaks for both the fifth-generation iPad and iPad mini. A similar leak just early this month showed photos appearing to be similar to the silver part shown today.
Macrumors website has reported other sightings of the next-generation iPads saying:
"Other sightings have included a brief video that claimed to show the next-generation iPad's front panel and digitizer paired with a rear shell, as well as alleged photos of the black next-generation iPad's front panel and digitizer assembly."
Meanwhile, reports have been contradicting one another on whether the new iPad mini 2 will come with a Retina display. Just last month a report from the The Wall Street Journal said that the next-generation iPad mini will indeed have a Retina display and come in a number of colors. Photos of the next iPad mini also appeared last month showing off a new embedded black logo, which is a distinct change from the styling of the current-generation iPad mini with a mirrored logo applied to the rear of the device.
Apple is reportedly set to release the thinner full-sized iPad and next-generation iPad mini in the last three months of 2013. Reports are also suggesting that Apple will announce these products along with the next-generation iPhone at a press event on September 10.
