iOS 7 Release Date Is Announced! Update Your iPhone With The Latest Operating System Sept. 18

Apple fans prepare your phone for glory, because iOS 7 is coming to you and fast! At Apple's press event in Cupertino, California, CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple's latest operating system, iOS 7 will be released on September 18! Apple confirmed that iOS 7, its radically redesigned software for iPhone and iPad, will be available for download in a mere eight days. Owners of an iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and the iPad 2, iPad with Retina and the iPad Mini will all be able to download iOS 7 via iTunes on that date. It will also be available for the 5th generation iPod Touch.

The excitement surrounding the iOS 7 update is totally valid, the software upgrade is significant. User who download Apple's update available next Wednesday will be receiving a completely different version of the iPhone and iPad software they have known. Apple overhauled the whole design of the operating system, and has breathed streamlined and vibrant life into the iPhone. The home screen users have come to know have new colors, textures, icons and animations. The brightly colored new operating system also has redesigned Mail, Calendar, Music, Photo and Camera applications.

While Apple has maintained its familiar home screen, there are multiple new features. Apple has upgraded the Do Not Disturb setting, altered the Lock Screen and revamped the Notification Center with the addition of a new Control Center that allows for fast access to general settings and controls from anywhere on the iPhone or iPad. The Control Center is one of the most significant upgrades of iOS 7 from iOS 6. The Control Center is a new pull up menu is accessible through any application or any screen on the iPhone or iPad. The Control Center offers users instant access to commonly used features and settings. GottaBeMobile reports that users will be able to turn on Airplane mode, WiFi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb and Orientation lock on and off via the Control Center. User will also be able to control general phone settings through this menu, such as brightness and music, Air Drop and Air Play. The new menu also has a bottom row of icons, where users can launch the flashlight, clock, calculator and camera.

While Apple did confirm the exact time of release for iOS 7, users will likely see an update notification at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 18. iOS 6 users should be able to easily update their operating system to iOS 7, Apple completes their software upgrades via air updates, which allows users to update without plugging into a computer.
