iOS 7 is coming to the world today, and while Apple's royal baby should be delivered at any moment, there are a few things to do before installing Apple's latest mobile operating system. With Apple promising that iOS 7 will be the "world's most advanced mobile operating system," change is coming and in order to ensure a safe and effective upgrade, Apple users should prepare their iPhone or other device. The iOS 7 will bring a brand-new, streamlined look to your device, in addition to multiple software features, like a new Control Center, photo filters, and AirDrop. So as to prepare for the forthcoming download, follow this step-by-step guide in order to make the transition from iOS 6 to iOS 7 as smooth as possible.

First things first Apple user should check their devices compatibility. Apple has posted a list of devices that will be able to run the latest OS software, the devices that are capable of the iOS 7 update is; iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, the fifth generation iPod touch, iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, and iPad mini. If you are a proud owner of one of the latest Apple devices that iOS 7 will soon be yours. The next step to ensure proper installation is deleting all your unused apps. Go through the apps you currently have installed and delete any that are unused, this will open up some space on your iDevice. To delete apps, tap and hold an app icon until it starts to wiggle, a small X in a circle will appear in the corner of the icon, click the X to delete. A pop-up will prompt you to delete or cancel the action, tap "Delete." If you do end up needing the app in the future, simply re-download it from the App Store.

Now for the apps that have made the cut, update them! This is a vital step for iPhone maintenance in general but is especially important before the iOS 7 update. Launch the App Store and ensure that the remaining apps are up-to-date. In addition, when you download iOS 7, app updates will automatically be downloaded for you; you will no longer have to manually install app updates. One of the more important preparations is backing up your device, if for any reason iOS 7 does not sync properly with your device, you will be able to restore it to the iOS 6 operating system. The last step is to update iTunes on your computer. With the release of the latest iOS installment, will come an update to iTunes. The update usually adds new features to iTunes, but it also brings with it compatibility for new devices and the new OS. To manually check for updates on your computer, for Mac user, click on the "Apple Menu" icon followed by "Software Update". If you are a Windows user, use the Help menu in iTunes and click "Check for Update."
