The controversial Sony movie 'The Interview' will now release in selected theaters on Christmas day. The movie studio's CEO Michael Lynton said Tuesday that "we're excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day." He did not specify an exact number of theaters because the plans were still being worked out."The Interview" is about an assassination plot against the North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un. It is widely believed that Sony Pictures suffered a cyberattack last month partly due to North Korea's fury over the movie.
On Sunday, the studio's lawyer, David Boies, told Meet the Press that Sony decided it would release the movie, but wasn't clear yet how. Today, that seems a little clearer. Financially, speaking, The Interview's limited release will be a small amount of revenue gained as Sony works to regain its $44 million budget. But the symbolic theatrical run will likely have a "great per-theater average," says Jeff Bock, box office analyst for Exhibitor Relations, and could create a ripple effect.
On Instagram and Twitter, co-star James Franco is celebrating like he posted on Instragram. Also, adding "The Interview" starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco saved by President Obacco! I MEAN PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!! Sorry!!! This joke on instagram in response to the error on James last name from a speech President Obama made in regards to North Korea and Sony pulling "The Interview" in which he mistakenly said James Flacco instead of James Franco.
