Miranda Barbour, 19, is facing the death penalty for the murder of 42-year-old man Troy LaFerrara of Port Trevorton. The teenager has confessed to luring LaFerrara with the promise of a sexual encounter and later stabbing him 20 times while her husband, Elytte Barbour, 22, of Selinsgrove, strangled him. The two have been charged with murder by police. Barbour gave a prison interview with the Sunsbury Newspaper the Daily Item. Here are Five Things she revealed.
1. This Is Not The First. Barbour is in fact claiming that LaFerrara's murder is just the latest in a string of killings going back years. "When I hit 22, I stopped counting," 19-year-old Barbour the Daily Item. "I can pinpoint on a map where you can find them," she boasted. "I remember everything. It is like watching a movie." Barbour revealed that she had been killing people from the age of 13 and that her bloody path can be traced all over the country.
2. They Did It For Satan. In the chilling interview, Barbour revealed that her murderous path began when she joined a satanic cult in Alazka. She revealed her first kill was a man who owed the cult leader money. “It was in an alley and he (the cult leader) shot him,” she said, declining to identify the cult leader. “Then he said to me that it was my turn to shoot him. I hate guns. I don’t use guns. I couldn’t do it, so he came behind me and he took his hands and put them on top of mine and we pulled the trigger. And then from there I just continued to kill.”
3. It Happened Through Craigslist. Barbour has been nicknamed the 'Craigslist Killer' and with good reason. Barbour met LaFerrara on popular internet personals site craigslist.org where she agreed to be paid $100 for sex. The two then met in a parking lot at the Susquehanna Valley Mall in Hummels Wharf. She considered not killing him, but then “he said the wrong things,” she said. “And then things got out of control. I can tell you he was not supposed to be stabbed. My husband was just supposed to strangle him.”
4. She's A Victim of Sexual Abuse. Miranda Barbour also revealed she has had a difficult childhood. Her mother, Elizabeth Dean, confirmed that Miranda was abused when she was four years old by her brother-in-law and was charged with sexual abuse of a minor “It was bad,” Dean said. “I never let (her) stay anywhere except for my sister’s house, and I was devastated when I found out.”
5. Authorities Are Going Nationwide. Barbour is claiming that in fact she has committed similar crimes all over the country, including North Carolina, Texas and California. Sunbury police Chief Steve Mazzeo said he is investiagating the claims in conjunction with other state authorities and the FBI. However, nothing has yet been confirmed.
