Social media users are torn after Democratic Sen. John Fetterman showed up to Donald Trump's inauguration wearing a hoodie and gym shorts.

Fetterman, who is known for wearing casual attire despite his prestigious position, was photographed wearing a black hoodie and gray basketball shorts, despite the temperature only being about 24 degrees in Washington D.C.

The Pennsylvania senator's attire led to mixed reactions from users. While some respected his unapologetic commitment to staying true to his image, others bashed Fetterman for not appearing "respectful" given the occasion.

"Hate to say it but pretty based if you ask me," one user commented on X. "Lmao what's new that's why we love him," another user wrote.

"Is there not a dress code???" a different user wrote. "The moment Trump is sworn in, he should have US marines drag him out of the building," one user commented.

"I used to get angry at this but I honestly love the commitment to the bit," another user wrote. "I honestly can't decide if this is insulting or endearing," one user added.

Meanwhile, others used Fetterman's appearance to crack jokes. "I am no longer the worst-dressed #Inauguration attendee," one user tweeted. "So Pittsburgh coded," another user chided.

Some users speculated that Fetterman's attire was a jab at the Trump administration moving the inauguration ceremony indoors due to the cold weather.

"John Fetterman wearing shorts to the inauguration after Trump wussed out because of the cold is a boss move," one user wrote. "Average Pennsylvania dad about to get the snowblower out of the garage," another user joked.
