A man in Estacada, Oregon was being chased by the police after reports of burglary. When they attempted to arrest him, Raleigh Reynolds, identified as the suspect, allegedly ran and jumped a fence before barricading himself in the house next door.
According to the police, Reynolds tried to escape the house several times unsuccessfully and eventually a woman came out and told the deputies she was the suspect's sister. When Reynolds finally came out of the house, he was holding a baby in front of him, positioned as a shield, covering his face and part of his chest.
Police believed Reynolds may be armed because he refused to comply with commands, but after negotiating with him, he finally released the baby and was taken into custody. As it turned out, the suspect was not armed. The infant, revealed to be Reynolds' son was not hurt during the incident and was released to family members at the scene.
Reynolds was booked in the Clackamas County Jail on charges of burglary, endangering welfare of a minor and resisting arrest. He was also arrested in February for felony drug charges after he inadvertently dialed 911 just before a drug deal and the emergency dispatcher tracked the phone's GPS signal, which led officers to an alley about a block away from the police department, facilitating the arrest.
