It's a big day in the United States of America as Barack Obama steps down from office and Donald Trump assumes the responsibilities. On Inauguration Day social media boomed with hilarious memes as the events unfolded live on television. Jabs were taken at Trump, Melania, Michelle Obama's facial expressions and more. Take a look at some of the funniest images below and tell us what you think!
On the days leading up to Trump taking office, he made peace with Univision as they had been at odds during his campaign. Trump sued the Spanish-language network when they refused to air the Miss USA pageant in 2015, after he announced his candidacy and his ugly remarks against Mexicans and Latinos.
“We just had a productive meeting with President-elect Donald Trump about issues facing Hispanic and multicultural communities in America", Univision said in a statement. "We look forward to working with Mr. Trump and his administration to make our vibrant country even better. Our Univision News team will continue to cover the Trump administration with the rigor that we have brought to the coverage of every administration that preceded it. We approach this task without fear or favor and with one goal only – to ensure our audience is well-informed. Our eyes, ears and minds are wide open.”
Things are going to be more civil between Donald and Univision, but at one point the former called for a boycott of the latter. "Anyone who wants strong borders and good trade deals for the U.S. should boycott Univision," he wrote on Twitter. "Univision cares far more about Mexico than it does about the U.S. Are they controlled by the Mexican government? Univision said they don't like Trump, yet Jorge Ramos and their other anchors are begging me for interviews."
In a despicable act, Trump published a letter Jorge Ramos had sent to him asking for an interview that included his personal phone number. "I want to write you personally to request an interview, but so far your team has declined," reads the letter Trump published on Instagram. "I am sure you have a lot of things to say and I have a lot of things to ask. I'll go to New York or wherever you would like. If you would like to talk first over the phone, my personal cell is ... I know this is an important issue for you and for me."
