An immigrant rights group in Ohio's Springfield has reportedly filed a complaint against former President Trump and Ohio Senator JD Vance for fueling rumors that Haitian immigrants were eating local pets.

The Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) filed the complaint at the Clark County Municipal Court, noting that such rumors led to 33 bomb threats in the city.

"Like those who falsely shout 'fire!' in a crowded theater, Trump and Vance do not color within the lines of the First Amendment. They commit criminal acts," the HBA said, according to the Border Report.

HBA Executive Director Guerline Jozef filed the complaint, supported by a statement claiming that Trump and Vance committed seven different crimes. These include disrupting public services, making false alarms, aggravated menacing, complicity and telecommunications harassment.

"HBA filed this criminal charge to hold Trump and Vance accountable for the devastating harm they caused our community in Springfield and has impacted Haitians around the United States," Jozef said.

"Thirty-three bomb threats have been alleged across Springfield within the last two weeks. Hospitals, schools, universities, and government offices were all evacuated after receiving racially charged threats."

Jozef further mentioned Springfield government officials and their families have also received threats, highlighting that "Trump and Vance's lies have harmed the Springfield community, and their lies have violated criminal law."

The complaint claimed that Trump and Vance's statements about Haitian immigrants met the legal standard required to charge them with the alleged crimes. It argued that no further investigation was needed, as the facts in the affidavit were already widely known.

However, people or even private organizations cannot initiate criminal charges. Due to this, the HBA and Jozef were asking the court to find probable cause based on the evidence and issue arrest warrants for Trump and Vance.

The document also mentioned that if anyone else had caused the same harm in Springfield, the police and prosecutors would have already filed charges.

However, the prosecuting attorney has not taken action to protect the community or hold Trump and Vance accountable.

The complaint was filed just one week after Trump announced during his speech at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale that he planned to visit Colorado's Springfield and Aurora "in the next two weeks."

"In the next two weeks I'm going to Springfield and I'm going to Aurora," Trump said. "You may never see me again but that's OK. I've gotta do what I gotta do."
