Donald Trump officially became the new President of the United States today during an inauguration that broke with historical protocols and contrasted sharply with the ceremonies Americans and the world have witnessed for decades.
The day began traditionally with a religious blessing at St. John's Episcopal Church, attended by Trump, his wife Melania, and his children—Eric, Ivanka, and Barron—accompanied by their families. Vice President J.D. Vance, along with his wife Usha Vance and their children, also participated in the service.
Following the blessing, the group headed to the White House, where they were greeted by the outgoing administration, led by Democratic President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff also welcomed the incoming Vice President and his family.
The ceremonial events continued as the group made their way to the Capitol building, located just a few blocks from the White House. For the first time, the swearing-in ceremony was held behind closed doors, in a private setting.
Stay tuned for impactful photos and videos of the day's events.
