Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained a Guatemalan man wanted for murder in his home country after he was found hiding in Texas.

Dennis Alexander Valenzuela, 37, was arrested at his home in Fort Worth last week, more than three years after entering the country at or near Hidalgo, Texas, according to reporting by FOX 4.

When he crossed the border on June 16, 2021, US Border Patrol agents served Valenzuela a Notice to Appear, pursuant to the Immigration and Nationality Act, which would have started the process of obtaining citizenship if he was cleared by a judge.

"Our officers pursue criminal aliens who attempt to hide in the shadows of our communities daily," acting ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas Field Office Director Joshua Johnson told FOX 4. "The apprehension and pending removal of this individual underscores our dedication to upholding the laws of our country and safeguarding our communities."

No additional information about the alleged murder tied to Valenzuela in Guatemala has been released.
