Mun2, the network that airs the reality series "I Love Jenni," has announced that the show will return for a third season.
"I Love Jenni" revolves around Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera, who tragically died in a plane crash late last year. According to the Huffington Post, Rivera's plane went down just minutes after leaving Monterrey in Mexico. There were no survivors.
Per TheWrap.com, Mun2 is also airing a tribute to the singer the week before "I Love Jenni" returns. The special, called "We Love Jenni," will include interviews with celebrities like Carson Daly, Mario Lopez and Snoop Lion (aka Snoop Dogg). It will also feature regional stars like Horoscopos de Durango, Larry Hernández and Tucanes de Tijuana, per Deadline.
As the Los Angeles Times notes, Rivera was also the executive producer of a Mun2 reality series titled "Chiquis & Raq-C." The show revolved around her eldest daughter, Janney "Chiquis" Marin, and radio personality Raquel "Raq-C" Cordova.
Zap2It reports that the series will return on April 14. Some of the episodes were made before her death, while those produced afterwards will revolve around her five children and her sister, Rosie.
According to the Associated Press, the 43-year-old singer was born and raised in Long Beach, Calif., after her Mexican parents came to the United States. She sold over 15 million records and also mentored on Mexico's version of "The Voice."
Shortly after the singer's death, the general manager of Mun2 and the president of Telemundo Media issued a joint statement.
"Jenni was one of the most influential, authentic and captivating Latinas in entertainment," it read, per E! Online. "Jenni was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, who broke through the language barrier and connected with millions of fans in a unique, powerful and lasting way."
