Hyundai electric vehicles will soon gain access to Tesla's vast network of Superchargers in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The announcement comes after Hyundai Motor North America announced it is adopting Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports for its new electric vehicles. According to a release from the company, starting in Q4 2024, all-new Hyundai EVs manufactured in the U.S. will be equipped with Tesla's proprietary charging port.

Owners of existing Hyundai EVs will be offered NACS adaptors, which will allow them to charge their vehicles in Tesla's Supercharger stations in North America, including many located in Mexico.

"This new alliance will provide Hyundai EV owners confidence in their ability to conveniently charge their vehicles and complements our joint venture company to create a new, high-powered charging network with at least 30,000 stations across North America," said José Muñoz, president and global COO.

Tesla's founder, Elon Musk, has also recently made significant investments to expand EVs in Mexico.

Earlier this year, Musk announced that Tesla would build a gigafactory in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon to produce batteries for the company's EVs. Tesla is estimated to invest $15 billion into the factory over the next two years.

According to Musk's biography "Elon Musk," author Walter Isaacson revealed that Musk wanted to manufacture Robotaxis in Mexico, but those plans never came to fruition.
