Talk about a "hot" housing market, Reddit users were shocked to find a Zillow listing for a $259K "still-smoldering" Florida home destroyed by Hurricane Helene.
In a post shared to r/florida, a user posted a screenshot of the Zillow listing in the Tampa area while it was still smoking. The caption reads "Kinda sums up the real estate market right now."
The listing has two photos: the first shows a blue, fire-damaged house emanating smoke from its missing roof with debris strewn across the front yard; the second shows a perfectly intact in-ground pool. The listing stated the photo of the pool was taken before the storm but it "remains undamaged."
The home was last sold for $325K in 2020. The listing further describes the property as "ideal for a complete renovation or new construction project." Additionally, potential buyers can't enter the property "for safety reasons" and the homeowners are only accepting "cash offers or seller financing only, with no inspection contingencies."
Reddit user Capable-Influence955 commented that they "had to look this up" themself to confirm that "it is legit."
"I've lived in Pasco Co all my life and I've never seen a house listing where the house is still smoldering," the user added.
ErisGrey commented on the homeowners including a picture before Hurricane Helene.
"'Property with Fire Damage The pool remains undamaged, and the photo shown is from before the storm.' Oh Cool! It's even worse now!," they wrote.
Others pointed out the exorbitant price tag while one Reddit user lamented it will most likely be bought by "a conglomerate of rich people" who will then make money by building and selling a new home on the lot.
