"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" cast is growing again, it was announced today via Twitter that "American Horror Story" actress Lily Rabe will be joining the cast as Commander Lyme in both parts one and two. Filmmaker Francis Lawrence will return to direct the two-part theatrical finale to the Suzanne Collins series. Also reprising her role as rebellion leader Katniss Everdeen is Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence. Commander Lyme is a past Hunger Games victor and the leader of the rebellion in District 2. The character description on "The Hunger Games" book site says Lyme is "a strong independent woman. She was willing to do anything for District 2 to become aligned with the other districts against the capitol."
The character description goes on to say that Commander Lyme "was one of the first people from District 2 to be part of the rebellion. She was the Commander of District 2. She cares for the wellbeing of others but can also be cold, as she is willing to do anything to claim district 2 in the rebel army." Lily Rabe is the latest name in a long line of "Hunger Games" casting news. Other names that have joined "Mockingjay: Parts 1 and 2" include Julianne Moore and "Game of Thrones" actress Natalie Dormer.
Lily Rabe is likely best known for her role on the supernatural FX series "American Horror Story." She recently appeared in "All Good Things" and is next set to play Mary Pickford in an independent film called "The First." In the final instalment of "The Hunger Games" trilogy the rebellion that was unknowingly started by Katniss when she refused to kill Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) in the 74th Annual Hunger Games comes to a head. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 1" is set to be released November 2014 and part two will be out in November 2015. "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" will be released this fall on November 22.
