Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez has died at age 58, according to Vice President Nicolás Maduro. But while Venezuela is currently mourning the beloved Chávez, the facts surrounding his death are raising questions.

Conspiracy theories are now offering the details on whether there was foul play, when and where he passed away.

Was Chávez poisoned by enemies?

Chávez had been battling cancer for two years, undergoing four different medical operations in Cuba. Recently, however, his health has become a mysterious topic with little information being offered by the Venezuelan government.

Vice President Nicolás Maduro stated that there will be "scientific proof" that Chávez was poisoned. This statement was made during a meeting with reporters after he met with the country's top officials Tuesday about Chávez's battle against cancer.

Further, CNN reported that Venezuela also expelled David Del Monaco, an Air Force attaché for the U.S. Embassy "for being implicated in conspiratorial plans," the information ministry said.

The death of Chávez was announced a mere two hours after Del Monaco was expelled for allegedly meeting with military officers and planning to destabilize Venezuela.

Did Chávez die in Cuba or Venezuela?

Conspiracy theories that dispute the cause of Chávez's death and now people are questioning if the president died in Venezuela. Reports are claiming that Maduro's accusations could have been a ruse to cover up the fact that Chávez actually passed in Cuba.

According to Spanish newspaper ABC, Chávez died in a Cuban hospital instead of a military hospital in Venezuela's capital, Caracas. Moreover reports state that after Chávez's health deteriorated, he returned to Cuba on Friday for emergency treatment.

To back up the claims, it was noted that government ministers were not seen attending his bedside.

Has Chávez been dead since last month?

Finally it seems as though the actual date of death is being debated. Last week, Guillermo Cochez, a Panamanian diplomat, gave interviews saying that Chávez had died, telling a Spanish newspaper on Feb. 27 that Chávez's life support had been switched off four days previously on the request at his daughters.

This news comes in the wake of a mysterious shroud surrounding Chávez's illness as of late. The Venezuelan government has denied claims of a cover-up but Chávez has not been seen by the public except in snapshots released of him and his two daughters in Maria Gabriela, left, and Rosa Virginia in Havana on Feb. 14.

His illness has been the subject of controversy and speculation, therefore it comes with little shock that the details surrounding his death are disputed and uncertain.
