ESPN announced recently that former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Hugh Douglas has been relieved of his duties as co-host of "Numbers Never Lie," a popular show on the sports television network.
According to Yahoo News, Douglas was fired earlier this week after multiple reports indicated that an alleged confrontation occurred between Douglas and 'Numbers Never Lie' host Michael Smith.

"I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN," Douglas said on his personal Twitter page. "I will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time."
USA Today notes that the former All-Pro defensive end and Michael Smith had a disagreement at the recent National Association of Black Journalists conference in Orlando and that a heated verbal altercation took place, with Douglas uttering slurs directed toward Michael Smith.
Douglas -- who spent seasons with the Eagles, New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars over the course of his 10-year career -- also allegedly threatened to beat up Smith while calling him an "uncle tom" and "house n-----."

Unnamed sources told the Huffington Post recently that Hugh Douglas was not fired for any specific remarks, but for the unacceptable conduct he displayed at the Orlando event.
The 41-year-old was hired by ESPN in 2011, seven years after stepping away from professional football. Spending 5 of his 10 seasons in Philadephia, the former Central State standout was named to two All-Pro teams and helped guide the Eagles to an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIX.
