Queen Elizabeth is best known for her dedication to her role as the head of state and as the monarch of the United Kingdom. Decades ago, she pledged her dedication to the entire nation when she was crowned as Queen.

Throughout the years, the Queen has seldom been absent from her royal engagements and duties. In fact, even at the age of 93, she still hasn’t retired from her role.

But the Queen’s dedication to her job and role also has some downsides. For instance, the mom of four is unable to take very long breaks so that she could take care of her health.

Last year, the Queen attended the Chelsea Flower Show, and she told one of the guests that her knee is causing her some troubles. The Queen knows that she needs surgery to get better, but she refused to get one because she knows that it would take her quite some time to recover.

“People from her and Philip’s generation battle through problems and carry on,” a source said. “And Her Majesty doesn’t like to cause any fuss,” the source added.

According to Express, the Queen is experiencing the same problem now. But just like last year, she’s once again refusing to undergo the important surgery.

Meanwhile, Prince Philip’s wife agreed to undergo cataract surgery last year. But instead of taking the usual 4 to 6 weeks to recover, she returned to work shortly after the successful operation. At that time, the Queen was photographed wearing dark sunglasses while attending her royal engagements.

In 2003, she also underwent a minor operation on her knee. Buckingham Palace released a statement saying that the monarch is expected to be up and about after a few weeks.

Her Majesty will rest at Sandringham over the next two weeks and will then resume a limited program of engagements until she has made a full recovery,” the statement read. But now that the Queen is already 93 years old, she needs to focus more on her health.

Her husband, Prince Philip, has already retired from his royal duties. And he also underwent successful hip surgery last year.
