Princess Diana previously shunned the possibility of tying the knot again after the fallout of her marriage to Prince Charles. She shared her thoughts during an interview with a royal expert.
Ingrid Seward asked the Princess of Wales if she wanted to get married again someday, and she said that it will only be possible if she will be able to find someone who’s prepared to cope with her. Other than this, the late royal also said that Prince William doesn’t want her to wed again.
“We discussed it if she’d get married again,” Seward said. “She said Harry was always asking her to have another baby because he was fed up with being the youngest. But it was a bit difficult, she told him, because she wasn’t married. She said she’d love more children, and she didn’t see herself being single forever. Harry wanted her to get married again, but William didn’t,” Seward added.
After her split from Prince Charles, Princess Diana started dating Dr. Hasnat Khan. Another royal expert said that the Princess of Wales wanted to marry the physician. In fact, she also wanted to have two daughters with him. However, her mom, Frances Shand Kydd, didn’t approve of their relationship.
Princess Diana’s former royal butler, Paul Burrell, revealed that Kydd once called her daughter disgraceful for sleeping around with Muslim men. During their last phone conversation, Kydd lashed out at Princess Diana due to her relationship with Khan.
“Diana was devastated by her mother’s disapproval of the men in her life,” Burrell said. “Frances loved Diana, but as her daughter, could be very impulsive and emotional. She said some very hurtful things, but she loved her daughter … I don’t think she ever got over the circumstances surrounding the princess’ death,” he added.
Meanwhile, Princess Diana never had the chance to wed Khan or any other man after Prince Charles for that matter. She also didn’t have more kids after Prince Harry. This is because the Princess of Wales died at such a young age following a fatal car crash in Paris.
