Prince Charles was previously painted in the blackest portrait after Princess Diana revealed some shocking information about him. The release of “Diana: Her True Story” reportedly caused the heir to the throne utter humiliation.
Royal author Penny Junor said that Prince Charles was not pleased with what was written about him in the book “The Firm.” The dad of two was dubbed as a bad father to Prince William and Prince Harry, and he was also branded as cold and faithless.
To make things worse, his ability to be king was also questioned. But according to Junor, majority of the things that were written about Prince Charles were categorically untrue.
“People who were witnesses to the events remembered them in essence, but they had a twist to them which always put the prince in a bad light,” Junor said. “He was adamant, nevertheless, that there should be no retaliation and instructed his friends to say nothing. Charles has never publicly criticized Diana,” Junor added.
But shortly after the release of “Diana: Her True Story,” Prince Charles had a change of heart. He decided to share his side of the story in the biography and film with royal expert Jonathan Dimbleby in 1994. It was in this disastrous interview that Prince Charles admitted to having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
Prince Philip was reportedly furious after hearing his eldest son’s shocking interview. The dad of four was incensed, and the entire British clan was flabbergasted by what Prince Charles said.
One year later, the back and forth between Prince Charles and Princess Diana continued. In 1995, the Princess of Wales sat down for an interview with Martin Bashir for Panorama. It was in this interview that the mom of two said that there were three of them in her marriage.
But despite the lengthy tirade between the Prince and Princess of Wales, the former still stepped up after the death of Princess Diana. Even though they were no longer married to each other, the future king was the one who picked up his ex-wife’s body in Paris.
