Prince Charles is reportedly preparing to take over Queen Elizabeth II’s role as the head of the monarchy. But as of late, Her Majesty still hasn’t abdicated from the throne.

Nicholas Bieber, a journalist for Daily Star, claimed that Prince Charles has been attending meetings on behalf of the Queen since 2014. When he takes over the throne, Prince Charles will take over the running of the Duchy of Lancaster, a massive private estate that provides income for the sovereign.

Prince Charles will also receive the new title of Duke of Lancaster when he is crowned king. The journalist said that the dad of two most recently attended another meeting with representatives from the Duchy of Lancaster.

An entry in the Court Circular or the royal family’s official diary revealed that Prince Charles’ meeting took place on Feb. 6. The meeting was held at the Clarence House, the official home of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles.

When Prince Charles becomes king, he and his wife will move to Buckingham Palace. The Queen currently resides at Buckingham Palace since she’s still the head of the monarchy.

There are rumors suggesting that she is gearing up to give up her throne in favor of her eldest child, but some experts said that this cannot be the case. Royal expert Nick Bullen told Yahoo’s “The Royal Box” that he’s confident that an abdication by the Queen will never happen, and the reason has something to do with the younger generation of royals.

“I think that the Queen sees what those boys and their wives bring,” he said. “I also wonder whether she even throws forward to the great-grandchildren. Princess Charlotte, already at the age of three, knows how to work a crowd. Maybe now through her grandchildren, she can see a way of just staying on the crest of that wave,” Bullen added.

And during the Queen’s coronation service, she vowed to the entire world that she will serve her country and her people until the day she dies.
