Prince Harry is due to release his memoir "Spare" on Jan.10 and it has been revealed what he plans to do with the profits earned. He will reportedly be donating a large part of the proceeds to foundations that are close to his heart.
The Duke of Sussex has already donated $1,500,000 to Sentebale and will donate £300,000 ($345,210) to the WellChild charity. These foundations are extremely close to his heart, and he was due to attend the WellChild Awards in the U.K. when his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, died. It is known that Harry has been a patron of WellChild for 15 years which provides care to children or young people with specialized needs.
Hello magazine reported that the royal established Sentebale in 2006 together with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. This charity helps children and young people living with HIV in Lesotho and Botswana. Earlier this year, Harry told rugby player Gareth Thomas, who lives with the condition, that fighting the stigma around HIV is something he could not walk away from.
In addition, when he spoke on National HIV Testing Week, Harry explained that once he got to meet people and saw the suffering around the world, he was certain that he couldn't turn his back on that.
The 416-page book will cost £28 (around $33) for a hardcover, with the audio download price at £20 ($23). Its cover features a photograph of the Harry looking directly into the camera. He wears a brown t-shirt and a black string necklace reminiscent of his Army days. The memoir "Spare" will be available in 16 languages, with its Spanish title confirmed as "Spare: En la Sombra."
Harry will read the unabbreviated audio edition of "Spare" himself, to be released on the same date.
According to a report by Mirror, a spokesman for the publisher stated that the book takes readers immediately back to one of the most anticipated images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s casket as the world watched in pain and horror.
Meanwhile, PEOPLE stated in a report that although a large part of Harry's memoir was written before the Queen's death, it is confirmed that he will acknowledge her death in the book.
In the book, Harry's author biography defines him as a husband, father, humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate, and environmentalist. He lives in Santa Barbara, California, with his family and three dogs. The Sussexes relocated to Meghan's home state in 2020 after stepping back as working members of the Royal Family. They have a three-year-old son Archie Harrison, and a one-year-old daughter Lilibet Diana.
