In the wake of the devastating Philippine Typhoon Apple has launch a new donations page via American Red Cross on iTunes and Apple's website home page to help victims in need. The new page allows users to easily donate money to the American Red Cross toward Super Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts in the Philippines. Apple's donation page, which can be accessed through the companies main website and via iTunes, allows users to donate values from $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, and $200.
As stated on the donation page Apple will transfer 100 percent of a users donation to the American Red Cross. This will allow anyone who wishes to donate, to have their donations billed to their existing iTunes Store accounts. The donation page also reveals that Apple will not be sharing your personal information with the American Red Cross so the Red Cross won't be able to further acknowledge your donation. It is also worth noting that there is no tax deduction for the donation and iTunes store credits cannot be used to donate.
With more than 500 million iTunes users it is more than possible that Apple can take advantage and really help the relief program for this devastating typhoon. In the past Apple has launched similar programs when natural disasters struck, most recently in October 2012 following Superstorm Sandy, in March 2011 following the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, and in January 2010 following the Haitian earthquakes.
