Criticism against President Joe Biden for pardoning his son Hunter has been widespread, with experts claiming to be "baffled" by the decision and a Republican member of Congress calling the Democrat "a liar and a hypocrite."
Members of the Republican-led House Committee on Oversight and Accountability were also quick to jump on the criticism, led by its Chairman Rep. James Comer, who blasted the president through a statement on X in which, among other things, claimed that "President Biden and his family continue to do everything they can to avoid accountability."
The Committee itself also took the opportunity to publish a timeline of what they referred to as activity "the Biden Crime Family were up to from 2014 to 2024." The detailed chronology is the result of the Committee's investigation of the Biden family's domestic and international business practices. It began in January and looks to determine whether the Biden family has been targeted by foreign actors, President Biden is compromised, and national security has been threatened.
"Records obtained through the Committee's subpoenas to date reveal that the Bidens and their associates have received over $20 million in payments from foreign entities", reads the first paragraph of the Committee's lengthy statement on its website which goes on to detail, country by country, the result of their findings, including:
- Over $3 million allegedly received by Biden family and associates from Romania.
- Over $8 million allegedly received by Biden family and associates from China, specifically with CEFC and their related entities.
- $6.5 million allegedly received by Biden family and associates from Ukraine
- $3.5 million allegedly received by Biden family and associates from Russia
The "The Bidens' Influence Peddling Timeline", as the Committee calls it, goes all the way back to 2009 and links to four memorandums that provide detailed descriptions and show bank records and wires.
Earlier in the day, the Committee also published a post on X which condemned Biden for his action:
"From the lawfare against President Trump to now the pardoning of Hunter Biden, Joe Biden's unprecedented abuse of power has been a stain on the honor of the U.S. presidency"
