"Homeland" season five is currently in development in a new country. We learned early this year the show would change it's location to Germany. With the show currently in the process of being filmed Showtime has released a slew of information to tease fans about the coming season.
If you recall season four of the show left us with a major cliffhanger. Carrie (Claire Danes) and Quinn (Rupert Friend) almost got together after moving back to the U.S. until the former screwed it up, leaving Quinn to flee the United States and rejoin the CIA on a dark mission in Syria. With what we know of season five we can bet that Carrie is definitely over the idea of being with Quinn. It was revealed that there will be a time jump from season four to season five and we also know Carrie will have a boyfriend.
The new cast members listed below are all series regulars, meaning you’ll see them throughout the season. Their roles are as follows (descriptions via Showtime):
- Otto Düring (Sebastian Koch), a German philanthropist and Carrie’s (Claire Danes) boss.
- Allison Carr (Miranda Otto), the current Berlin Chief of Station, working directly under Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).
- Laura Sutton (Sarah Sokolovic), an American journalist in Berlin who works for the Düring Foundation.
- Jonas Happich (Alexander Fehling), legal counsel for the Düring Foundation and Carrie’s boyfriend.
Fans need not worry about Quinn as he will be back. Fans were worried that Quinn would not be apart of the coming season due to his mission in Syria but Showtime confirms that he and Saul will both be back for season five.
In Nov. 2014, Showtime renewed the series for a 12-episode fifth season, and will premiere sometime fall 2015.
