In an exclusive, in-depth interview with Tucker Carlson on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump said he had concerns about Joe Biden running for re-election.
Trump had his first interview since his arrest in New York City last week with Tucker Carlson of Fox News. He discussed many topics, including his indictment and Biden's suggestions that he run for office again.
"Look, I watch him just like you do," Trump told Fox News host Tucker Carlson of the 80-year-old commander-in-chief. "And I think it's almost inappropriate for me to say it. I don't see how it's possible. But there's something wrong."
Prior to the White House Easter Egg Roll, Biden said to the meteorologist for the NBC "Today" show that he did intend to run for re-election but was not yet prepared to do so.
"I saw his answer today [Monday] on television about whether or not he was going to run to a very nice guy named Al Roker," the 45th president added. "You can't get a softer question than that. It was a long answer about the eggs and this and that — look, I don't think he can."
"I'll either be rolling an egg, or end up being the guy, you know, the guy who's pushing them out," Biden joked, before telling Roker, "I plan on running, Al, but we're not prepared to announce it yet."
Republicans are not the only ones worried about a second term for Biden. More than half of Democratic voters wanted to see another name at the top of the ticket, according to a poll conducted last week by CNN/SSRS.
Trump is polling comfortably ahead of his expected GOP opponent Ron DeSantis despite having serious legal issues, according to an unidentified former White House official who told Reuters last month that Biden was considering a second presidential bid because he didn't believe Vice President Kamala Harris could defeat him, New York Post reported.
Trump stated in the Carlson interview that even if found guilty, he would not withdraw from the campaign for the Republican nomination.
In addition to the Manhattan case, he is the subject of other federal inquiries as well as a Georgia criminal investigation.
Even if Trump were given a prison sentence, there is nothing in the Constitution that would prevent him from running for government again.
In the event that Biden was to serve a second term, he would be 86 years old, while Trump would be 82 years old.
In terms of the oldest president ever elected, both men had already broken records.
