A circus performer was injured last week during a performance of the traveling Hermanos Vasquez troupe in Houston. Mexican aerialist Vicki Garcia was reportedly performing a high-flying tandem trapeze trick with her husband John when she fell 6 meters (20 feet). Video reportedly of the incident shows the aerialists hanging from a rocket-shaped prop that flies around the ring. During one fateful loop, an arealist that appears to be Vicki Garcia falls no safety net between her and the ground. The video, released on YouTube, can be viewed below.

Vicki suffered only minor injuries, according to a statement from Hermanos Vasquez management. In the video, she can be seen taken to the side of the ring by her colleagues. At one point, the ringmaster announces that she’s conscious. Management added that the accident was the result of human error -- someone failed to properly attach a safety cord that would have caught the aerialist in the event of a fall.

“It's a live performance and that is what a lot of people don't understand. Like balancing acts, like the strong men acts, all those kinds of acts, they all have a risk. This act was one of the ones that was the highest risk of them all,” Lorena Vignaud, the general manager of Circo Hermanos Vazquez told local media.

The show continued over the weekend in Houston and is expected to travel to Salt Lake City soon. You can watch a video of the Garcias’ act in all it’s glory -- with no falling -- here.
