It's been almost a month since the Sussexes' explosive ITV documentary, where Meghan Markle admitted to not being okay due to the severe press scrutiny. While several reports have come out with the royal family showing concern and reaching out to both Meghan and Prince Harry since then, it has recently been revealed by DailyMail that the Duchess of Cornwall has become the couple’s pillar of support.

A royal source even spoke to Vanity Fair, saying, “I think Camilla was probably just as surprised as anyone else when the documentary came out and perhaps didn’t realize how much Harry and Meghan were suffering.”

The source further added, “She wants everyone to get along and be happy. Her mantra is carry on and keep smiling. She doesn’t want to see anyone struggling, and she is fond of Meghan, and she could be a very good ally too.”

Camilla has always been a sympathetic woman as there was a time when she was entangled in a controversy of her own. In 1993, the media released taped conversations between her and Prince Charles - and it was a mess. So, it's only fair to say that since she has already been a victim of intense media scrutiny, she can relate to what the former Suits actress is going through.

Sally Bedell Smith, who is a royal biographer, said, “I think Camilla can easily empathize with Meghan because of what she went through in the media.”

She further added, “At one stage, no one was more beleaguered by the tabloids than Camilla, but she was shrewd enough to know that antagonism would get her nowhere.”

Smith even said that Meghan could learn a lesson or two from the Duchess of Cornwall on how to handle the negative media attention since Camilla has successfully cultivated a cordial relationship with the press, the same people who once tried to destroy her.
