Just as condolences began pouring in for deceased NBA star Kobe Bryant and his teenage daughter Gianna; an Instagram video of the 13-year-old flaunting her expertise in dribbling surfaced, and it’s simply heart wrenching.
A recent Instagram video that was shared in December features Gianna scoring baskets in heels while her teammates practice around her on a court. Her effortless knack around the ball is evidenced just as she dribbles the basketball behind her back, without missing a single step. The young player’s finesse was lauded as soon as it made to the picture-sharing app, roughly about a month ago.
Gianna, a fledgling basketball player, breathed her last on Sunday after Bryant’s private helicopter crashed in California at 10 am just after a fire broke out. The 41-year-old’s demise was confirmed by TMZ.
The accident occurred near Kourtney Kardashian’s pad, and claimed the lives of nine people who were seated alongside Bryant and Gianna. The helicopter’s engine was reportedly sputtering down at a ferocious pace before it crashed. Bryant and Gianna are survived by his wife Vanessa and their three other children Bianca, Natalie and Capri.
While a further probe is underway, a media outlet revealed that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sprang into action as soon as reports of the crash near Las Virgenes Rd and Willow Glen St in Calabasas surfaced. It is believed that the chopper was headed to Bryant's Mamba Academy in Thousand Oaks for basketball practice.
The news of Bryant's demise surfaced a day after the NBA star was passed by Lakers forward LeBron James for third place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
The unseated star took to Twitter and congratulated James during the Lakers' 108-91 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night. Bryant, who hails from Philadelphia, has had many illustrious innings spanning 20-years— the Lakers, winning five NBA championships and 18 All-Star titles— before he hung up his boots2016.
The news which shook industry insiders and fans alike, resulted in a volley of stars— from Khloe Kardashian, Travis Barker and Tristan Thompson to Bella Hadid and Demi Lovato— paying tribute to one of the finest basketball players of all time.
