One of the most popular sports-dramas of its kind, 'He Got Game' continues to garner tremendous attention despite being released 16 years ago. Thanks to the vision and direction of filmmaker Spike Lee and the powerful roles of Denzel Washington, Ray Allen, Milla Jovovich, Rosario Dawson, John Turturro and others, the 1998 film quickly grew into a highly viewed movie, especially to sports fans since it was based around the game of basketball. Focusing around the pending collegiate decision of high school basketball product Jesus Shuttlesworth (Ray Allen) and the strained relationship he has with his father Jake (Denzel Washington), who is a convicted felon, 'He Got Game' grabs the attention of each viewer by striking multiple emotions.

Though it's been nearly two decades since the film was first released with open arms to the public, recent reports indicate that Ray Allen and director Spike Lee have been mulling over the possibility of launching a sequel to the successful picture. According to ESPN, Allen and Lee have spent time over the past few months discussing whether or not a follow-up to the initial film would work. Allen, who currently plays for the Miami Heat, is open to the idea but doesn't want to create a new feature if the sequel doesn't compare to the first movie.

“Sequels to most movies are always fluff and not as good as the first," Allen said recently. "But it's something we've been talking about for the last couple months. If we get a really good story line and are able to bring everybody back, then it would be something worth doing. Hopefully it works out. Not one day goes by where I walk in here and guys don't say that they didn't watch it last night or it wasn't on. I don't know who's in charge of delegating what gets on TV, but it seems like that movie's been on a lot the last two or three months.”

In addition to exploring new ideas for a possible sequel, Allen is preparing to launch a unique moment in NBA history Friday night when his Heat take on the Brooklyn Nets. Each team will wear 'nickname' jerseys for the first time in league history and thanks to the success 'He Got Game' produced, Allen will be sporting a No. 34 Shuttlesworth jersey.

Heat teammate LeBron James will have 'King James' on the back of his jersey while Nets guard Deron Williams will display D-Will on his uniform.
