HBO just released the first clip of the upcoming six-part mini series “Show Me a Hero,” which is based on the nonfiction book by Lisa Belkin of the same name. Guatemalan actor, Oscar Isaac, stars as the youngest big-city mayor of the 1980s, Nick Wasicsko, who suddenly finds himself at the center of a racial controversy after being met with a federal court order to build a public housing project in a predominantly white part of his town, Yonkers, New York.
The project, which has been under development since 2003, was written by Simon and William F. Zorzi, and “Crash” director Paul Haggis stood behind the cameras, as he is no stranger to exploring subjects such as community and race, versus the citizens, bureaucrats and public workers. Joining Isaac in the cast were Clarke Peters, Daniel Stern, Natalie Paul, Jim Belushi, LaTanya Richardson-Jackson, Alfred Molina, Winona Ryder and Bob Balaban, amongst others.
Check out its first preview before the show premieres on HBO on August 16 at 9pm, with its subsequent installments on August 23, August 30, September 13, September 20 and September 27.
