Two new DC animated shows will drop on HBO Max with powerhouse showrunners who offer an innovative pace of the two well-loved DC characters. “Batman: The Caped Crusader” and “My Adventures with Superman” are slated for a later release says Warner Media in two separate press statements.
“Batman: The Caped Crusader” will take its dark and grim branded feel with a hint of noir-style in reimaging the classic. It will be helmed by three major executive directors with J.J. Abrams (director of Star Wars), Matt Reeves (director of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson), and Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series).
Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics (GKYAC) said in a press release, “It is always fun to feed the insatiable appetite fans have for all things Batman.” He added, “Batman: Caped Crusader will entertain first-time and die-hard fans alike and, with such an impressive creative team in place, we know we have another future Batman classic in the making.”
Timm, Abrams, and Reeves told the press in a joint statement: “We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City.”
The trio added that the series will be “thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”
Meanwhile, “My Adventures with Superman” is taking a fun and lighter approach to viewers. Warner Bros Animation described the series as an “all-new kids and family animated series following the action-packed, comedic and romantic adventures of Superman and Lois Lane.”
“Superman has remained one of the most iconic and beloved Super Heroes in the world,” said Amy Friedman, Head of Kids & Family Programming, Warner Bros. She added that the show delivers “a modern, relatable Clark Kent alongside a fearless, whip-smart Lois Lane” who are navigating adulthood while saving the world.
As of writing, both animated shows are in development and only time can tell when the series will drop on HBO Max. The two shows will offer something for a variety of audiences looking for entertainment they can recount to.
