Following “Bandersnatch's” tremendous success, it's almost a no-brainer for "Black Mirror" to get another season or standalone movie. With that said, what's brewing for this Netflix hit series?
Although Netflix has yet to reveal anything about the future of the sci-fi show, it will be highly shocking for fans if the series has finally concluded. Fortunately, creator Charlie Brooker hinted that there might be more to come for his hit show.
“We could do one-offs, we could do an ongoing story, we could do spin-offs,” Brooker told Hollywood Reporter. Even producer Annabel Jones stated that their approach towards the show has changed after the success of “Bandersnatch" and the approach is likely to impact their upcoming projects. However, the episode had reprotedly delayed the release of "Black Mirror" season five, about six months.
Talking about the complicated production process of “Bandersnatch,” Charlie Brooker opened up to Hollywood Reporter, “While we were making it, we kept saying, ‘We’ll never do this again.’” Then, he added, “By the end, I was saying, ‘Oh, I’ve got an idea.’ It’s definitely something I would do again, and I think there are lots of ways to tackle it.”
Therefore, the “Black Mirror” projects are far from being over. They might emerge as a dynamic standalone episode with increased interaction with the audience or a usual run of five-six episodes. As for the airing dates, there are currently no clues available. It seems that the fans might have to wait a little longer for the next chapter of this series.
