The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s dispute with the Monarchy are beginning to pay dividends. If recent reports are anything to go by, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s significance has plummeted in the royal family tree, and now appear below the Earl and Countess of Wessex on the official royal website.
The developments don’t seem surprising to royal insiders who knew that things were headed for a downward spiral after Megxit— coupled with public outbursts on live documentaries and shows— wreaked havoc on Harry’s familial ties beyond recovery.
The website, which was under development for the longest, recently made updates on the same. The mighty fall of positioning can be attributed to the current state of affairs. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were positioned beneath the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge up (Prince William and Kate Middleton) until the fallout with The Firm.
What’s more, Harry’s bio reads: “As announced in January, The Duke and Duchess have stepped back as senior members of The Royal Family. They are balancing their time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor their duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and their patronages. Frogmore Cottage in the UK remains their family home.”
Meghan’s bio on the other hand highlighted: “The Duchess will continue to support a number of charitable causes and organizations which reflect the issues with which she has long been associated including the arts, access to education, support for women and animal welfare.”
The update evoked debates and an online uproar of sorts, with scores of staunch Royal Family loyalists still livid at the Sussexes being featured on the site.
Meghan, who just gave birth to Harry and her second child on June 4, as cited on The Sun, named their newborn daughter Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor as an ode to Harry’s late mother and his grandmother Queen Elizabeth.
Despite everything that happened ever since Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals, the Sussexes have time and again maintained that they have nothing but deep love and respect for the Queen. Harry and Meghan are currently on a leave and settling in with the infant at their Montecito pad.
