Hamas gunmen were seen parading through the Gaza Strip with firearms shortly after a ceasefire agreement between the militant group and Israel was announced.

In a video shared to X, a white van is seen drivingly slowly through a street flooded with people. Men with their faces covered hang out of the vans' open doors with their rifles.

Two people, who appear to be civilians, climb on top of the van to wave a Palestinian flag as the crowd gathers to record and take photos.

One of the Hamas fighters speaks to a reporter in a closer clip with his face covered and holding a gun. The man speaks to the media with his rifle pointed in the air while standing on the side of the van, and continues to yell as the van drives off. Sirens and people whistling can be heard in the background.

By the time the videos were shared, news outlets had already begun reporting on the alleged ceasefire agreement, but it had not been formally confirmed yet by the U.S. About an hour later, President Joe Biden provided details of the deal at a press conference.

"The elements of this deal are what I laid out in detail this May," Biden told reporters. "Phase one will last six weeks. It includes a full and complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all the populated areas of Gaza and of the release of a number of hostages held by Hamas."

Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners will also be released as a result of the deal, and civilians will be allowed to return to their homes in areas once occupied by Israeli soldiers.

Biden added that phase two of the plan involves the return of remaining Israeli hostages and the full withdrawal of Israel's military. The ceasefire is said to remain in place so long as negotiations continue. It is unclear how many of the 98 hostages believed to remain in Gaza are alive.
