Halloween 2013: costumes, trick or treats, candy apples and, apparently, cocaine. A passenger at Montreal airport tried to take advantage of the holiday by taking a plane with pumpkins filled with cocaine, Univision reports. Canadian customs officials found three pumpkins containing 4.5 pounds of cocaine during a regulation luggage search prior to takeoff. The official were alerted to the suspicious vegetables when they realized they were heavier than what pumpkins of this kind normally would be.

Halloween is an excuse for all kinds of frivalous behavior, with drug dealing now added to the list of over-eating, dressing skankily and playing pranks on your neighbors. The drugs were confiscated and transported to the Canadian Mounted Police offices. Mercedes Farias Jerez, 26, was arrested on charges of possession and drug trafficking. The police indicated that if found guilty, Ms. Jerez could face up to two years in prison.

This year alone, officials at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport have made 173 drug seizures, according to CNN, including 10 for cocaine. According to the Smoking Gun, a kilo of cocaine can sell for $20,000 in the US.
