Hallie, President Joe Biden's daughter-in-law, has been revealed as the mysterious "new" Biden family member who got a lot of money from China in 2017.
The House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer shared this information with New York Post Thursday.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, Hallie got the money from a Chinese energy company while she was dating her late husband's brother, Hunter Biden.
Hallie was married to Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer in 2015. She is the mother of two of Joe's grandchildren, Natalie and Robert. She dated Hunter from around 2016 to 2019, which is a timeframe that included the payments from China.
The payments to her were revealed in subpoenaed bank records, said Comer.
The records showed that in 2017, she got $35,000 over two transfers from Biden family associate Rob Walker. He also got $3 million on March 1, 2017, from State Energy HK Limited. It is a firm that is affiliated with CEFC China Energy.
Joe was allegedly the "big guy" who was mentioned in communications about the same Chinese venture.
In a Thursday morning memo to committee members, Comer's staff wrote that one transfer to Hallie from Robinson Walker LLC was for $25,000. It happened on March 20, 2017.
On Feb. 13 of that year, another $10,000 was transferred. It raises "many questions," said a committee aide. That's because it came shortly before, rather than after, the $3 million payment.
The memo noted that the bank records don't mention the first names of all Biden family recipients. It means that there may be others involved apart from Hunter and his brother James Biden.
Comer said that over the course of several years, Biden family members and their companies got over $1.3 million in "payments from accounts related to their associate, Rob Walker." He noted that most of this money came as a result of a wire from a "Chinese energy company and went not only to Hunter and James Biden but also to Hallie Biden and an unknown 'Biden.'"
Comer shared that it is unclear what services were provided to "obtain this exorbitant amount of money."
