Trinidad and Tobago battled their way to a 2-2 draw with El Salvador in the opening match of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup and as they looked to add to their point total, Trinidad knew a tough match was on the horizon with Haiti.
The Haitian nationals suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Group B favorite Honduras to start their tournament slate but entering Friday night's showdown, Haiti seemed to have a little extra in the tank against their talented opponents.

A goal from Jean-Eude Maurice in the 16th minute gave the Haitians an early lead and thanks to an agressive style of play on the defensive end, Haiti grew comfortable on the offensive side as the match progressed. The 27-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward notched his second goal at the 53 minute mark to put his squad up 2-0 as Haiti was well on their way to an impressive victory.
Frandi Montrevil never saw a shot come his way as the 15 Trinidad scoring attempts all misfired on the target and along with the much-needed clutch play of Maurice, Haiti looked like a definite contender to advance to the later stages of the Gold Cup.
