Actor Billy Baldwin took to social media to condemn the Trump administration for its unlawful deportation of a Maryland father who had been granted legal protected status and authorized to stay in the US.

Baldwin, brother of actor Alec Baldwin and uncle to socialite Hailey Bieber, posted about the deportation of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing senior staff within the Trump administration for alleging that Garcia was part of a gang without providing any evidence to support their claims.

"Where was it proven that Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia is a member of MS-13?" he wrote.

"I don't want videos of Trump or members of his administration talking about it. I would love to see receipts, facts, court documents, proof. Can anyone provide that?" he continued.

He continued his line of reasoning in the comments of his own post, responding to a user who said that evidence of Garcia's gang involvement "doesn't matter" because "illegal aliens get deported."

"It doesn't matter if you don't want to violate the Constitution. Due process does not apply only to American citizens," Baldwin replied.

Garcia was deported from the United States last month and sent to an El Salvadoran high-security prison called the Terrorism Confinement Center, or CECOT. El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele met with President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, during which he stated that he has no intention of making efforts towards returning Garcia to the United States.

"How can I return him to the United States? Like if I smuggle him into the United States?" Bukele said while sitting beside Trump in the Oval Office. "Of course I'm not going to do it. The question is preposterous."
