Just moments after Gustavo Cerati died, his children, Lisa and Benito Cerati took it to social media to express their feelings. They took verses from two of their dad’s songs to make a special farewell message. They used a phrase from “Vuelta por el Universo” and “Adiós,” besides their own words to say goodbye to a legend. “Vuelta por el universo, alto cada vez mas alto... Sin palabras amor eterno para vos... Poder decir adiós es crecer...” wrote Lisa, tagging her mother, Cecilia Amenábar, grandmother, Lilian Clark, and Benito.
The message translates to “Around the universe, higher, each time higher… No words, eternal love for you… Being able to say goodbye is to grow…” Gustavo Cerati died yesterday, September 4, 2014 as a consequence of a respiratory arrest, according to his doctor, Gustavo Barbalace. He had been in a coma for four years following a stroke after a concert in Caracas, Venezuela in May, 2010. Cerati was 55. Although his death is a physical loss for Latin American rock, his work will remain a legacy.
