The mixed martial arts (MMA) world is mourning the unexpected passing of Guilherme "Bomba" Vasconcelos, a former Brazilian UFC and Bellator fighter. At just 38 years old, Vasconcelos, who was also known for his brief relationship with singer Demi Lovato in 2017, has left a profound void among his fans and the MMA community.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed through social media by his uncle, Walter Vasconcelos, who shared an emotional farewell message.
"We were expecting your visit for Christmas, but that won't happen now. Life is fleeting, and we woke up to this devastating news," his uncle wrote, without providing specific details about the cause of death. So far, no official information has been released, although reports indicate that the passing occurred in Los Angeles, California, less than 24 hours after the fighter posted a photo on Instagram outside a Jiu-Jitsu studio.
Journalist and close friend Jay Glazer revealed that the former fighter took his own life.
Glazer used the moment to emphasize the importance of mental health and urged anyone feeling overwhelmed to seek help. "There is no decision you can't take back," he expressed in a message of support for the community.
Known as "Bomba" (bomb) for his powerful strikes, Guilherme Vasconcelos built a solid MMA career, boasting a record of 10 wins and 6 losses over his seven years as a professional fighter. His time in UFC and Bellator made him a notable figure in the sport, standing out for his aggressive fighting style and charisma both inside and outside the octagon.
Beyond his sports career, Vasconcelos also gained media attention for his relationship with singer Demi Lovato. The two were seen together on several occasions during 2017, particularly at end-of-year events. However, the couple parted ways in mid-2018, citing personal differences.
