Although the Spanish-language network had made the first 2 episodes available online already, Monday, April 24 is the actual premiere of the telenovela. Telemundo NOW app will have the episodes for streaming. "Guerra de Ídolos" airs tonight at 8pm/7c before moving in to its regular time slot tomorrow at 9pm/8c.
"Guerra De Ídolos" starts with the death threat to Julio Cesar Solar, the number one singer in the Regional Mexican music genre, will be the spark to fire up this story, exposing the tip of an iceberg that hides the darkest side of the music world: the secret arrangements between the industry and the mafia, money laundering, the broadcasters that serve as platforms to boost the power of politicians, the sponsorships in exchange for excessive returns, the deaths of artists used to promote others, and the all-or-nothing fights between bands that try to perform songs in enemy territory.
The fight in front and behind the scenes, of those who seek to dominate the music business; where, in order to succeed, one must have ambition, but above all, fan support. And to achieve this, there is a key to open the door to success: the work of the best music composer and producer of the moment, Mateo Solar.
Mateo, a member of a family of artists of Hispanic origin living in Houston, has music in his blood, and now unwittingly, will bring blood to music. Unruly and temperamental, this producer can work with both the Regional Mexican and Urban genres. Every artist wants the talented Mateo to compose their songs, especially after having taken his brother, Julio Cesar, to the top of the charts, making him a great idol.
But Mateo will make the “mistake” of falling for a new singer who is interested in his services. Manara is a beautiful and determined woman, as imposing as stubborn, for whom Mateo will compose the most passionate songs, planning to launch her as a new pop star through his label, JC Records, but what Mateo is oblivious to is the dark plot that led Manara to him. Mateo has dealt with criminals and has composed corridos for gangsters who want to become legends, but Amado Matamoros, Manara’s brother, is one of the most dangerous thugs with whom he had to deal. A human trafficker and firearms smuggler, Amado has other plans for Manara: to give her away to Rafael Zabala, Julio Cesar’s artistic godfather and business partner of the Solar family at JC Records.
